FAQ

Do I have to come to each session?

No! You can come as you are able and interested.
There will be some concepts that build each week but since the topics will be posted ahead of time, you can reference them on your own time as well.

Do I need to bring my own instrument?

If you play an wind instrument (woodwind or brass), then yes.
If you play a rhythm section instrument (piano, bass, drums, guitar etc), please email with any specific requests.  There will be some instruments provided and some can be shared more easily.

Will I have to take a solo?

In class, we aim to have everyone participate as much as they are comfortable and able.  For the end of workshop event, we can make the "performance" choices ahead of time, so there won't be any surprises.

Do I need to read music?

Improvisatory music is often learned and performed without note reading.  There will be pieces and concept to read but if you prefer and feel more comfortable, you can participate all by ear.
